East is the third studio album by Australian pub rock band Cold Chisel, released in June 1980. The album peaked at No. 2 and spent 63 weeks on the national chart. It was the biggest-selling Australian album release of the year. It was the only Cold Chisel album to chart in America, reaching 171 on the Billboard 200. It also reached number 32 on the New Zealand charts.
Cold Chisel – Rockpalast – Hamburg, Germany – December 3, 1982. Cold Chisel is a bit of a legend in Australian music. They were the undisputed leader of the Australian pub rock scene, and widely acknowledged as one of the best live bands ever. By the time their 4th album, Circus Animals, was released in 1982, Cold Chisel could basically climb no higher in the Australian music scene and started to look elsewhere. The band’s only overseas experience had been a short US tour in 1981 for the East album, which had gone well, but no promotion from the music industry left the band with few sales.

Cold Chisel has announced a very special one-off show in Adelaide on Friday, 2 March 2018 to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Adelaide 500. Under the banner of 'Made In SA', they have personally hand-picked a bill of Sth Australian born artists - inviting their friend Kasey Chambers, the critically-hailed rock outfit Bad//Dreems and two local Music SA openers to join them. Their first album to feature song-writing contributions from each member of the band, East climbed to 2 on the charts and stayed on the charts for more than 60 weeks.

Cold Chisel is the self-titled debut album of Australian pub rock band Cold Chisel.
