By 1981, Molly Hatchet had evolved to a straight-ahead rock style and a slicker production, as exhibited on Take No Prisoners (November 1981). The band remained a successful act on the touring circuit. In 1998 this line-up recorded the album Silent Reign of Heroes (June 1998). In 1997 the band traveled coast to coast that year with Charlie Daniels and the Volunteer Jam. Former Hatchet singer Danny Joe Brown, despite a long battle with diabetes and the effects of a stroke, was able to take the stage one last time at the Jammin' for DJB benefit concert in July 1999 in Orlando, Florida.

8 – Silent Reign Of Heroes. Our second of two late period Molly Hatchet songs. The great epic track Silent Reign of Heroes, was released in 1998 on their album entitled appropriately Silent Reign Of Heroes. Coming in at over eight minutes, the track Silent Reign Of Heroes stands as one of the longest Molly Hatchet songs the band ever recorded. It’s heavy, it jams and its a powerful testament to the spirit of the band that never stopped playing their hearts out. Love this one!

Not one of their best but a decent album...The second of their comeback albums..Its good solid stuff with the pace turned down from material of the original line up of 70/80,s....Standout tracks include Mississipi Moon dog, a good old fashion southern rocker,Dead and Gone,Saddle Tramp and the impressive Ballad to rocker title track...The guitar solo,s are still rifling through and the Rhythmn section and keyboards harmonise well..The vocal,s are rough and ready as the music is intended in good old southern boogie style...Its not a higlight but worth having in the collection.
