Kristóf Baráti / Otto Tausk - Korngold: Violin Concerto; Violin Sonata mp3 download

Korngold: Violin Concerto, Violin Sonata. Released on: 2015-01-01. Conductor: Otto Tausk Orchestra: Philharmonie Zuid Nederland Soloist: Kristóf Baráti Composer: Erich Wolfgang Korngold Music Publisher: Brilliant Classics.

Album · 2015 · 7 Songs. Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35. Otto Tausk, Philharmonie Zuid Nederland & Kristof Barati.

The Violin Sonata was written 30 years before the concerto, the 16-year old composer firmly rooted in Late Romantic hyper activity and expression. A stunning new recording by young Hungarian violinist Kristóf Baráti, who already recorded extensively for Brilliant Classics: Complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas (BC94310) and Brahms Violin Sonatas (BC94824) with pianist Klára Würtz, the Ysaye Solo Sonatas (BC94678), the Bach Sonatas & Partitas (BC94667) and Paganinis Violin Concertos 1 and 2 (BC94803). I recently discovered violinist Kristof Barati (on CD) and immediately fell in love with his playing. His Beethoven and Brahms Sonatas with pianist Klara Wurtz are absolutely wonderful. So how about this live Korngold Concerto? Well, I'm finding it difficult to love. It sounds unsettled, interpretively.

Erich Wolfgang Korngold composed his Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, in 1945. Working in the lush, lyrical idiom reminiscent of fin de siècle Vienna, Korngold wrote the violin concerto for unusually large instrumental forces (within the concerto idiom).

Kristóf Baráti (born 1979) is a Hungarian classical violinist. Baráti was born into a musical family in Budapest in 1979; his mother played the violin and his father was a cellist. He received his first violin instruction from his mother and continued his studies with the founder of the famous Tátrai Quartet, Vilmos Tátrai. Throughout much of his childhood, Baráti lived in Venezuela, where he began performing with leading orchestras from the age of eight

By Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Philharmonie Zuid Nederland, Otto Tausk, Kristóf Baráti, Gábor Farkas. 1. 35: I. Moderato nobile. 2. 35: II. Romanze. 3. 35: III. Allegro assai vivace. Violin Sonata in D Major, Op. 6: I. 5. 6: II. Scherzo.

The Violin Sonata predates the Concerto by about 30 years; completed when Korngold was just 16 years old, it refers to the later work in a number of ways, most notably through the composer’s penchant for wide intervals and the use of several of the themes which reveal Korngold’s precocious craftsmanship and use of organic unity. Its inclusion on this release equates to a deft piece of programming, given that the work is in many ways the perfect companion piece to the Concerto. On this release Baráti is joined by players from the philharmonie zuidnederland under Otto Tausk, with Gábor Farkas at the piano. Erich Wolfgang Korngold was a child prodigy (his musical talent was compared to that of the young Mozart). The Violin Sonata was written 30 years before the concerto, the 16-year old composer firmly rooted in Late Romantic hyper activity and expression.
